Whether it's the HD 159 or HD 357, these shocks have been tested by Lock and Lean and they are nothing short of amazing. No slop equals precise control. Superb and smooth rebound and leveling surpasses any stock set up you can think up.
In the cones it reduces push and dip and maintains a straight and smooth line of even travel. The biggest benefit is the road riding. I have personally ridden on the street in a variety of situations from slow traffic to 55mph+ road speeds where I needed precise handling. One situation was in September of 2014 while riding to a family members house during night time hours, construction workers forgot to mark a huge 5ft-6ft long 1ft deep by the entire width of two lanes section of roadway that had been removed for repair. Because of the angle, my headlights and other vehicle lights did not present the massive hole in the roadway. Several car crashes had occurred throughout the night prior to me arriving at that spot but no one felt it was urgent to mark it. I hit the spot at road speed and heres the facts:
1.) My stock front shocks bottomed immediately and pitched my body at the windshield.
2.) My rear shocks did not bottom (HD357's) and immediately leveled the motorcycle taking some of the weight off the front allowing me not to get ejected off. The front end just barley cleared the other side, but continued an upward launch until the rear leveled and I rode out of it. Both saddle bags blew open and I thought my wheels were destroyed. After a police report of the incident and a road side inspection, I skated out alive and well. Thanks OHLINS, your product works.
